Medical-Legal Partnerships (MLP) are collaborations between civil legal aid attorneys and health care or public health providers. MLPs are established to address harmful social and structural determinants of health.  MLP lawyers and health care partners address a wide-range of issues including poor housing conditions, a lack of health insurance, inadequate medical care, employment discrimination, special education needs, accessing public benefits, enforcing disability rights, domestic violence, and many others. MLPs are established in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, community health centers, community behavioral health organizations, and public health programs like Nurse-Family Partnership and Healthy Start.
