Recently, the Philadelphia Nursing-Legal Partnership, a collaboration between HELP: MLP and Philadelphia Nurse-Family Partnership and Mabel Morris Family Home Visiting Program finalized its 2019-2020 Policy Agenda.
The Policy Agenda describes the Nursing-Legal Partnerships’s policy priorities and action steps to improve the health of mothers, children, and families in Philadelphia and to reduce disparities in care and outcomes. The policy agenda is informed directly by Nursing-Legal Partnership clients and families receiving home visiting services. This year’s priorities include:
- Catalyze collaboration among home visiting & family support programs
- Improve housing stability and quality for families
- Ensure access to public benefits for mothers and babies
- Address disparities in maternal mortality and improve maternal health
- Improve job stability and employment conditions for low-wage workers
- Eliminate food insecurity and improve access to healthy food
- Expand access to high-quality Pre-K programs
- Advance policies that support lactating students
- Protect public health from climate change
- Promote community revitalization and active civic engagement
